The spacious, south-facing kitchen has a new(Dec 2010) electric cooker with ceramic top, microwave, 1.5 bowl sink, fridge freezer, dishwasher and a washing machine and drying rails. It has been equipped by a professional cook, so there are ample pots, pans, sharp knives, baking equipment, casserole dishes as well as cutlery, crockery and glasses for 6 people. There's also a toaster, slow-cooker, kettle, filter and espresso/cappuchino coffee machine. There is a table and 2 chairs for small casual meals. This room is has an electric night-storage heater.
Food - There is a good range of local food suppliers including organic veg, venison, and a smokery - see the Links page and the Cottage Notes at Easternmost for details. I'm keeping a good selection of seasonings, herbs and spices, plus condiments and sauces in the cupboard by the cooker, so you don't need to buy a whole packet just for a week - please help yourself and replenish as possible. Likewise there should at least be teabags and instant coffee by the kettle - as with all other food, bring the brand you prefer and leave what you don't use for the next guests. There is also a drawer with the usual cling-film, foil, greaseproof paper etc.
I'm trying to think of a system for you to inform people what you've left - probably a Forum or Blog on this website where you can put a wee list of what you've left and maybe a photo. The fridge will be cleared of date-sensitive food by the changeover cleaner; we'll try to leave some sliced bread and a packet of peas in the freezer.
There is ample table and floor space for your bags and boxes but I've locked the larder for my own stuff. |
